Process monitoring for early crack detection, optimisation of post-treatment, process control and validation of technological and economic potential
Project duration: 06/2025 – 11/2026
This project validates an innovative process monitoring system for the real-time monitoring of 3D-printed concrete components. The aim is the early detection and prevention of cracking, particularly due to plastic shrinkage, as well as the optimisation of curing measures to reduce costs and extend service life. In addition to a cost-benefit analysis quantifying reduced repair costs, extended service life and optimised material usage, the focus is on demonstrating the accuracy and efficiency of the measurement system in monitoring 3D concrete structures. The integration of the measurement system into digital construction processes is being investigated to ensure efficient workflows. Extensive testing and validation ensure the reliability of the data. To optimise practical application, target markets and potential users are being analysed to identify sector-specific requirements. The project promotes the efficiency and sustainability of 3D concrete printing through the validation of innovative technologies and their application in the construction industry, their integration into digital processes, and the identification of target markets.
